Brief overview
Tropicalia is a new music & food festival based in California which is due to launch in Summer 2020. It’s an ‘all things tropical’ festival, celebrating the best of Latin, Caribbean and African cultures. It blends traditional rhythms with new groundbreaking sounds from the new era in ‘a movement of subversion and beauty, with a vivid, multi-disciplinary blossom of music, arts and food.’
The name Tropicalia is inspired by a Brazilian cultural movement that arose in the 60’s – when the country was going through a military dictatorship – and revolutionised music, film and arts. The movement combined the popular and the avant-garde, the traditional Brazilian culture with foreign influences.
This utopian festival wants to revolutionise culture as much as the original movement did. They want to go against the oppression, the rules and the traditions by mixing new sounds, cultures and ideas. They already had their logo developed (you can download it in the assets) and are now looking for a beautiful, out-of-this-world website.
They want something unique, peculiar and different from anything they’ve ever seen before. Think bright colours, vibrant tropical patterns, big text. Something to ‘shock’ the public and get them involved in the atmosphere of the event. It can even be a bit kitsch (but just a bit!).
