Brief overview
One of the best ways to develop your lettering skills is to complete challenges which force you to explore various letter and number forms, and force you out of your comfort zone.
With the said, we'd like you to complete a full alphabet and number set using only custom, hand lettered type. To add to the challenge, perhaps you can explore lots of different styles within the set, but either way, try and make the finished piece consistent. Perhaps you want to make them all flat vectors, or perhaps you can experiment with 3D letters? Perhaps they can all use some sort of consistent texture, or even a consistent colour platte? The choice is yours.
As this is such an extensive brief, our advice would be to tackle each letterform one at a time, and break the full set down into achievable chunks that you can complete each day. Explore a few letterforms first and get a gauge for how long each takes you, then you can either speed up your process or slow down depending on how it works with the timescale stipulated. You'll notice you'll get quicker as your go. Each letterform should become slightly less challenging as you progress through the set, so have patients with this, it should be enjoyable!
Begin first by exploring various different typefaces and letterforms to get a feel for the types of styles you'd like to incorporate into your alphabet. Remember, you don't have to tackle this brief chronologically, if you'd prefer to tackle your preferred letters and numbers first, then go for it. You may find certain shapes slightly easier to do, and others more challenging. If this is the case, try and break the challenging ones up so you're not having to churn through a bunch of painful letters one after another!
