Brief overview
On average, nearly half of the world's young population between the ages of 18-25 failed to vote during their country's last election cycles. It would seem that there is a real disconnect between people and politics, particularly among the younger generations whose votes could quite literally change the future direction of the countries they live in.In order to address the problem, a group of software developers have set up a non-profit platform known as Parley, a growing online network that aims to bridge the gap between members of parliament and their constituents.
Targeted primary towards young adults and teenagers, Parley demystifies the political process and breaks down the jargon of political parties into clear and simplified messaging. The ultimate aim of the network is to encourage younger people to learn more about politics and ultimately, vote for the parties they identify the most with. The client is looking for a bright, colourful and engaging design that breathes fresh life into a traditionally boring and mundane topic. The design should effectively capture the attention of their young demographic without appearing too childish and immature.More importantly than anything though is to ensure that your designs appear gender-neutral and unbiased towards any specific parties or political beliefs.
The main aim of the platform is to encourage people to vote, not to try and steer people towards voting one way or the other. As such, ensure that you pay particular attention to the visual hierarchy throughout the design process so as not to make one party appear more attractive, important or powerful than another.
