Brief overview

Almost 85% of all music in 2021 was accessed through streaming instead of either physical or digital purchases, and it is currently estimated that an artist would need to gain 330,000 steams on Spotify just to make minimum wage.


Driven by a desperate desire to ensure the music industry continues to flourish and struggling artists aren't forced out of a job they love, Encore is a brand new music streaming platform that offers its community members the opportunity to support the artists they love through a sustainable, artist-first approach.


Rather than an ‘access-to-all-artists’ model, Encore instead offers users the option to select a group of artists, gain access to their full music library and directly distribute their monthly subscription fee equally between them all (minus a small licencing fee). Encore also allows users to purchase an artists’ merchandise directly through an artists’ profile, which will in turn offer users a discounted price on future purchases based on their previous behaviour.


The company are now looking to launch their platform into the music industry, and require the design of a new UI kit for their standalone desktop application, alongside an example of how these UI elements would be used on a single screen of the platform.


The platform should be targeted towards young adults who have a different attitude to music than the purchase-driven behaviours of their parents, but still have the financial access to be make their own purchasing decisions. The design of the platform should also be gender-neutral to avoid alienating users, but should also be different enough that it clearly stands out from becoming "just another music streaming service".


Brand buzzwords include: caring, trusted, reliable, supportive, innovative, modern.
