The brief I received was for a popular lifestyle magazine based in New York, who required an infographic to inspire and excite their reader in new ways to keep active during the long, chilly winter months. The infographic was aimed at young, creative professionals and students who have a love for all things design-led.
After working with a couple of designs (one being a left-to-right model, the other a top-to-bottom model, I chose to use the top-to-bottom model with a pathway snaking through the infographic to help direct the reader's eye.
I researched different ways to keep fit during winter, and I chose a simple blocky feel for the characters, but for them to have an inviting warmth about them with their brightly coloured top. For each type of activity the character had their own coloured top, with the corresponding text in a box which is a tint of the top, and a border the same colour as the top. The font was to be easy to read, but the header to stand out amongst the graphics, so I chose Eras Demi for the header as this had a bold enough feel without overdoing it, and Segoe for the rest of the copy. I finished the infographic with a few snowflake embellishments.
