I chose two main subjects to illustrate that for me depicted and really summed up pastry; a whisk and a croissant. I wanted to convey the playful nature Mark had requested in the brief by illustrating the subjects freely using varied brushstrokes and not keeping the colour within the lines. I drew inspiration on this style from Marks visual references and also one of my favourite artists Stephen Ormandy. I reworked typeface \'Birmingham\' adjusting the kerning and roughing up the edges to give it more of a hand drawn feel. The other brushed typefaces for the front cover were all created from scratch. The back cover image was pulled from Shutterstock. I felt that it added to the overall playful tone of the book design. All illustrations were created using Wacom IntuosPRO.
