My attempt at the Henry's Honey brief. Wanted to create a brand identity that connoted luxury whilst also having a fairly traditional aesthetic. I used Apercu and Apercu Mono for the typography as I felt it had a British feel but was neutral enough that it wasn't cliche. For the mark, I wanted a realistic Bee image similar to the realistic drawings you would find in nature journals. It has a traditional feel plus it just felt right to have something like this for this brief.
For the mockup, I actually wanted to have a go at creating one from scratch as I felt the free ones just didn't have a look I wanted. Its rough, but I wanted a square jar with a checkered paper cover on the lid and I tried to create something that looked realistic in PS. I wanted to keep the label minimalist in keeping with the brief utilising the aforementioned type.
I was inspired by old perfume print ads, in particular Chanel No. 5's marketing for the art direction.
