I really liked the way the toucan fit within a round cornered square. I went on to create other animals in a similar style, trying to think of interesting animals and ways in which they could fit within this shape.
I tried to stick to a simple colour palette and to use the same basic shapes throughout. Many of the shapes were created by overlapping rounded squares and removing excess pieces.
Hey Adam! I just love this set. I love how you managed to get animals of all different shapes and sizes to fit in a square and still look amazing! I’m impressed for sure. The style is so nice, the sloth made me chuckle his little eyes popping over the time. Nad the Anglerfish with his extended bottom jaw. They’re all beautiful! The palette works across the board, I love the softness to it, the set feels super friendly with the colours and rounded corners too. Honestly, I wouldn’t change a thing about the icons themselves, at most I would just give you a little feedback on the presentation! I would say maybe lose the yellow background as it’s slightly distracting, I would say maybe try a light grey, something very soft to let the colours of the animals speak out. Perhaps also experiment pairing some other fonts too, something a little more chunky and rounded I think would look super awesome with the style of this set. But I know this brief is about the icons, not the presentation haha. So overall amazing job!!
Hi, Jess,
Great! Thank you so much for the positive feedback. I feel like i set myself a bit of a challenge here so i'm very happy that you like them. I really enjoyed the process of creating them too. Some of the animals just started to appear while playing around with shapes. Some interesting things came out of restricting myself to this rounded square shape too, like the positioning of the sloths head. I'll take on board your comments about presentation. Equally important, so I want to get this right.
