Sam's Sweet Chilli Sauce Co.

So I'll be honest, I still have A LOT to learn about design and typography. This project was a challenge for me in many ways, but it forced me to learn different ways of thinking and creative problem solving. Over all my main goal was to come up with a design that would stand out against its competition on the store shelf. That's why I went with an all black bottle, instead of the typical red or clear that we always see. I wanted to do something bold with pops of color that would grab the consumers attention. Originally I came up with a much more detailed and illustrative design, however it was overwhelming and just too much for the product. So I cut out the majority of the details and embellishments, and ended up with this. I'm sure there are still many areas that could be improved, so any constructive criticism is very much appreciated! Over all I did have fun with this brief and I look forward to continuing to learn and improve with future ones!

  1. Hey you!

This is sick! Out of everyone who's done participated in this project. I think you have the best one hands down and would be the one I would notice in the shop.

I would say though I would have changed one or two things

    - You have the colors to represent the strength. Sweet, cool idea but, what about making the chilli's next to the skulls being the same color? And the bottle tops?

    - I think the 'AM' of Sam's should be a little more funky like the capital S. Don't know if its an existing type face or you made it. If you didn't get a paint brush and write with that adding the funk and see what happens.

Yeah. Take my feedback/ criticism with a pinch of salt. Just think its good to ask for criticism and get feedback, its only way to improve and move forward.

  2. Hey Alex,

Thank you so much for the feedback! I really appreciate you taking the time to look over my work and leave me a critique. You made some awesome suggestions, I really like your idea of making the chilli's and the bottle caps match the color scheme. I'm going to go back into the lettering and play around a bit more too. Thank you again so much!
