Gmail UI redesign

This is a very (very) simple UI redesign for the browser version of Gmail. As the brief touched on the current layout of the app works well, so I've opted to only make minimal changes (e.g. location of the "profile", search bar, usage). I've gone for a refresh of the UI to (hopefully) make it more pleasing to the eye, using subtle backgrounds to distinguish each section. Realistically Gmail will follow material design principles which I haven't adhered to. If I revisit this I'd like to experiment with icons in the sidebar menu, and adding back the chat feature which I've left out.

  1. Hi John, thanks for submitting your design to our UI brief.

I'm liking the extra tweaks that you've made to the profile and search bar.

I would suggest, now you've added the initial tweaks, to have a further play with the design. For instance, you could further develop the icons used in gmail and add some new designs in here! You could also have a play with the colours and layout. Have fun here and get creative.

Great start the brief John, keep going with it! Looking forward to seeing further designs here. And remember if you do choose to work on this design, make sure that you upload it as a separate submission so we can review your awesome new work.
