For this brief we want you to look at creating a custom wedding invitation design. Another great item to add into your portfolio to show the variety of work you can offer and also a popular necessity for people getting married that you can pitch for to get some paid freelancing work through people you know.
Design a super funky, loud and eye catching custom wedding invite for Ryan Pattern & Lisa Smith. These guys are having a mini festival in the coastal English town of Porlock. With loads of bands, DJ’s, fun, family and friends, they want an invite that their guests will want to keep forever. Think custom lettering, a monogram, a badge or stamp style crest or anything else you feel could work.
When working on artwork like this, there is very often a theme that can give an overall style and direction for the artwork. In many weddings this theme would follow onto all the printed materials including the wedding stationery and website artwork. Once you have your artwork assets in place, you could take this brief once step further and experiment with some other artwork for the same wedding – save the date cards, maps, an itinerary etc – to include in your portfolio too!
Here is a selection of images by awesome designers to give you some creative fuel! Remember don't copy this directly, use them as inspiration only.
