The ever-popular weekly organic farmer's market in Bristol, UK, has been given a double-page spread 'advertorial' in a local magazine. 'Advertorial' appear like articles written by the magazine themselves; in fact, they are just cleverly written and laid-out adverts that help to raise awareness and, hopefully, popularity of the company. With this in mind, the advertorial has to be considered; you don’t want to come across too much like a blatant advert. Instead you need to entice the viewer to read and learn more about the company.
They have given the designer complete creative freedom in terms of style and layout. They would like photographs of local farms/farmers, and clean, strong typography surrounding the imagery. They want to take inspiration from clean, modern, minimalistic magazine designs, and love simple publication layouts likes the images below.
With lots of creative freedom here, the client is excited to see what the designer will come up with. A good idea for layout projects (especially double-page spreads) is to begin with a quick sketch of grids and wireframes to get a sense of possible directions. Get your typefaces, colors and all your design assets finalized before you start working them into the grid and layout structure for your double-page spread.
